Hayman’s reveals sustainable Respirited vodka

London-based distiller Hayman’s has repurposed its grain spirit to create a sustainable vodka called Respirited.

Described as a ‘smooth and characterful’ vodka, Respirited was made from repurposed grain spirit from the distillery’s production process. It is charcoal-filtered. The vodka is packaged in 100% recycled glass, complete with a sustainable cork and compostable capsule. The label has also been printed on recycled paper All of this aims to tie in with the vodka’s tagline, ‘reborn, reimagined, respirited’. James Hayman, co-owner and fifth-generation family member of Hayman’s, said: “As a long-standing family business, we are always thinking about the next generation. We’ve had a sustainability team for the last several years led by my father, Christopher [Hayman], looking at all aspects of our business. “In recent years, we’ve developed our London urban garden, changed the energy we use for our distillery and bottling site to green and we hope to become B Corp-certified in the coming months. “One aspect we have always discussed is how we better use the leftover grain spirit from our distillation and wider production process. We have been working on this project for four years and we are delighted that the result of this is Respirited vodka.” The vodka sits at 40.2% ABV. It will be available to purchase via Amazon, Ocado and other online retailers for RRP £25 (US$30) per 700ml bottle. Furthermore, Respirited is part of the 1% for the Planet initiative, where 1% of all sales is donated to environmental causes. Hayman’s launched what it claimed was London’s first rum blending house in more than a century back in 2019, called Charles Merser & Co. Hayman’s moved into distribution with the launch of Symposium in January 2020.
