Halewood debuts blended Scotch Two Drams
Two Drams is a new blended Scotch brand from Halewood Artisanal Spirits.
The brand takes its name from the Scottish term for a whisky measurement, which Halewood claims comes from the Ancient Greek word for coin, ‘drakhme’, which evolved to mean the weight of a coin in the Roman era. The whisky bottle features two coins on its label as a reference to this etymology. Bottled at 40% ABV, the first expression from the brand retails for £15.99 (US$21) for a 700ml bottle. The whiskies used in the blend are Scotch, however the brand has not disclosed which distilleries they come from. Halewood owns two Scotch whisky brands: Bonnington and Crabbie & Co, which are both distilled at one site in Edinburgh. Other whiskies in its portfolio include Welsh brand Aber Falls and British brand Bankhall. It also has a stake in Irish whiskey brand The Pogues, which it shares with the band of the same name. On the nose, it is described as having notes of ‘light, sweet, fruity, fresh baked sponge cake’, while the palate offers ‘fresh pear and a little creamy sweetness’. Halewood has also become the UK distributor for Krupnik, which the company says is one of the largest vodka brands in Poland. Its portfolio includes an original vodka, flavoured varieties and cream liqueurs.
