Glenmorangie unveils third Cadboll Estate whisky
Highland single malt Glenmorangie has released the third batch of its Cadboll Estate Scotch whisky.
Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate aims to highlight the distillery’s field-to-glass ethos. The limited edition bottling is made from liquid created from two separate barley harvests. It was aged in American oak Bourbon barrels, before a small portion was finished in ex-Amontillado Sherry casks. After 15 years of maturation, the whiskies were married to create the third-batch release. Dr Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s director of whisky creation, said: “Created at Glenmorangie from field to glass, our Cadboll Estate series captures the true essence of our Highland world for whisky lovers to experience, wherever they happen to be. “Including a parcel of whisky finished in casks seasoned with Amontillado, my favourite Sherry, the third Glenmorangie Cadboll Estate release adds wondrous sherried hints to our barley’s unique flavour. “Soft and rich, with notes of deeply sweet spice, toffee, almonds and clove, this whisky celebrates the spirit, flavour and terroir of our homeland in a deliciously different way.” Tasting notes include honey, hazelnut, mandarin orange and toffee on the nose. The palate brings a ‘spicy mouthfeel’ with heather honey, gingerbread, hazelnut praline, fudge and a touch of clove. The finish has hints of almond marzipan, coconut and a ‘suggestion of baking fruit loaves’. Bottled at 46% ABV, Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate is available exclusively in the UK from today (27 April) via glenmorangie.com and the distillery visitor centre, priced at £75 (US$94) per 700ml bottle. It will be available across the UK and in local markets from 4 May. Earlier this month, Glenmorangie expanded the ‘It’s Kind of Delicious & Wonderful’ campaign to six airports with a barber shop pop-up. The whisky brand also backed a project by the OurWhisky Foundation to create a free image library to support gender equality in whisky.
