Forest Distillery debuts core whisky

UK-based spirits producer Forest Distillery has added Blend 26 to its permanent range after tripling whisky production.

The 26th edition of the blended whisky is distilled from barley grown in Cheshire, wild yeast and the brand’s own spring water, and is matured in English casks – which the distillery says creates 'a harmonious marriage of tradition and innovation'. Forest Distillery’s co-founder Karl Bond said: "Each blend release so far has been experimental, but to now have a consistent product for customers is brilliant for the business as we grow. “We're launching it nationwide in the UK this week, and then into Japan and worldwide from January. The English oak adds in a depth of flavour that we've not achieved through more traditional cask types." Blend 26 is described as 'distinctly smooth and bright' with a 'delicate sweetness' where on the nose drinkers may smell lemon meringue, and on the mouth flavours of honeycomb, soft butter and green apple can be identified. Bottled at 47% ABV, the whisky comes in handmade English ceramic bottles that are adorned with a design from artist Georgia Lowe. It can be purchased for £59 (US$75) from the distillery and retailers nationwide. Forest Whisky was recently also awarded a Masters medal at The Spirits Business's World Whisky Masters 2023. The distillery was founded by husband-and-wife team Karl and Lindsay Bond back in 2015, and claims to be the UK’s highest altitude distillery. Situated at the 210-year-old Cat & Fiddle above Macclesfield Forest, in the Peak District National Park, the company aims to take advantage of its natural setting, with spring water filtered through peat, wild yeast and specific barley grown locally. In October, it launched its Earl Grey gin in Canada through a distribution deal with BC Liquor Stores.
