Fever-Tree debuts low-calorie clementine tonic

by Alice Brooker

Mixer producer Fever-Tree has released a low-calorie tonic water made with Spanish clementines in time for World Gin Day this Saturday (11 June).

The new tonic, named Spanish Clementine Refreshingly Light Tonic Water, is described as ‘the ultimate sundowner’ by the brand, containing no artificial flavours or sweeteners. The liquid is crafted with hand-picked clementines from Valencia, and quinine from Central Africa. It boasts sweet, fruity and vibrant notes. "Our consumers are becoming more and more experimental with mixed drinks at home and we want to make sure our new products continue to inspire and delight," said Saskia Meyer, marketing director, Fever-Tree. "We always go to extraordinary lengths to seek high-quality ingredients, the hand-picked sun-drenched clementines we've sourced from Valencia are the key to this being the sunniest sip this summer. We're excited for Fever-Tree fans to put a sunnier, sweeter spin on their G&Ts." The bottling's perfect serve is paired with a London Dry Gin in a copa glass. Bombay Sapphire or orange-infused Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla are also suggested for mixing with the tonic water. It can also be paired with vodka to create a Spritz, or neat over plenty of ice and garnished with a twist of orange peel, or wedge of fresh lemon, lime or blood orange. Retailing for RRP £1.95 (US$2.44), the drink is available in 100ml bottles with 17 calories per serving. Spanish Clementine Refreshingly Light Tonic is also available in a pack of eight cans for RRP £4.30 (US$5.38). Last month, the brand unveiled its summer campaign, which made it into our top 10 round-up of marketing moves from May.
