Duncan Taylor debuts 60YO Lochside whisky
Independent bottler Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky has released a 41-year-old Miltonduff single malt and a 60-year-old blended whisky from Lochside Distillery.
The ‘very limited and scarce’ Scotch whiskies are part of Duncan Taylor’s Rarest Edition Collection. The two expressions are held in the vaults at Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky in Huntly, Aberdeenshire. The Miltonduff whisky comes from a cask from 1942, with the distillery celebrating its 200th anniversary this year. Duncan Taylor said Miltonduff single malts have rarely been seen since the 1980s. In 2005 the distillery was sold and is currently undergoing an extensive upgrade. Described as ‘rich and full-bodied’, the 41-year-old whisky carries fruit notes and creamy overtones. Lochside Distillery was closed in 1992 and demolished in 2004. Known for its honeyed and orchard fruit flavours, Lochside Distillery was based in Montrose, on the east coast of Scotland from 1957. The 60-year-old blended Scotch whisky is ‘rich and fresh’ on the aroma, with notes of forest fruits. The whiskies can be purchased from online retailer The Spirits Embassy through a ballot until midnight on 21 July. Only 30 bottles of Lochside are available, priced at £4,495 (US$5,824), and 20 bottles of Miltonduff are on offer for £1,795 (US$2,325). Earlier this year, Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky launched three single malt sets as part of its new Journey of the Octave range.
