Brother’s Bond and WhistlePig make sustainable pact

WhistlePig Whiskey and Brother’s Bond Bourbon have teamed up with their latest releases to support regenerative agriculture in the US.

The two brands have recently launched sustainably made whiskeys: Brother’s Bond Regenerative Grain Straight Bourbon and WhistlePig FarmStock Beyond Bonded Rye Whiskey. For a limited time, the expressions are available as an online bundle for US$189.99, with a portion of the sales earmarked for Regenerate America, the regenerative agriculture coalition stewarded by the Kiss the Ground documentary. Megan Ireland, chief blender at WhistlePig, said: “It’s unusual for whiskey competitors to convene over our secret sauce, but for the chance to pave the way for the industry in responsible farming? We were all about it. We’re beyond excited to team up with Brother’s Bond this harvest season to bring sustainability to your home bar.” Brother’s Bond Bourbon, founded by Vampire Diaries actors Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, launched its Regenerative Grain Straight Bourbon this year. The founders spoke in-depth about the sustainable benefits of regenerative grain on the inaugural episode of The Spirits Business Podcast. ‘Holistic farming approach’ Brother’s Bond Regenerative Grain Straight Bourbon is made with regenerative grain from North Carolina, which is distilled and aged within 20 miles of the fields at the Southern Distilling Company. The whiskey combines three-year-old Bourbon and a six-year-old wheated Bourbon, aged using custom toast and char methods. It is bottled at 47.5% ABV. Somerhalder said: “Regenerative agriculture, a holistic farming approach that builds the health of the soil, is at the heart of this newest expression. “By focusing on regenerative agricultural practices, we not only improve the health of the land but also enhance the rich, complex flavours of our Bourbon. “From the very beginning, Brother’s Bond has gone beyond crafting the best whiskey. We are committed to caring for the environment, our local farmers, and ensuring the legacy of quality Bourbon for generations to come.” WhistlePig FarmStock Beyond Bonded Rye Whiskey is part of the producer’s annual releases. It is a straight rye 100% farm whiskey, bottled in bond. Each barrel is harvested and distilled at the WhistlePig Farm & Distillery in one season. It is bottled as a single barrel whiskey at 50% ABV. Ireland commented: “We’ve always been proud of our Vermont roots, and the annual limited release of FarmStock Beyond Bonded is our chance to experiment with what our farm and team are capable of. “This year, we’re going beyond not only with our whiskey release but with our sustainable farming. We’re adopting regenerative farming practices to improve soil health, reduce erosion, and support Vermont’s bee diversity.
