Brave New Spirits expands Whisky Heroes range
Glasgow-based independent bottler, blender and distiller Brave New Spirits has unveiled its second batch of Whisky Heroes releases.
The second batch of the vintage-era adventure novels-inspired collection will include six different whiskies for general release and additional bottlings exclusively for selected markets, including the UK and Germany. Following the release of the first batch earlier this year, the second batch will feature single malt and single grain whiskies from multiple Scottish distilleries, including Tamdhu, Glendullan, Inchgower and North British. Each single cask or small batch expression will feature an age statement and has been matured or finished in either Bourbon or a variety of Sherry barrels, such as Pedro Ximénez, Palo Cortado and oloroso. To launch the range, activities will include in-person and virtual tastings in collaboration with Whisky Heroes' international distribution partners. Additionally, there will be participation in various major whisky festivals in the UK, Europe, and Asia, as well as tailored events with whisky clubs and followers of the Whisky Heroes social media pages. Notably, whisky enthusiasts in Germany were given the opportunity to suggest a name for one of the new bottlings, with the most popular title being assigned to one of the releases in the market. A spokesperson for Brave New Spirits said: “We’re looking forward to seeing the new Whisky Heroes range reaching whisky fans around the world and to supporting retailers and distributors with their events throughout the busy end-of-year period. "The Whisky Heroes range is now available in more countries than ever before and are also the first releases from Brave New Spirits to be available in countries such as Denmark, Sweden and Uruguay.” Along with the new whiskies, two single cask rums from Australia and Belize, The Rum Rogues, will also be available. Brave New Spirits' bonded warehouse in Glasgow was established in 2020. The company produces several whisky brands, including The Highland Shepherd Single Malt, Lighthouse Blended Scotch, and the limited edition Cask Noir and Whisky of Voodoo ranges. In August 2023, the company was granted planning permission for its first distillery, Witchburn, in Campbeltown. The distillery will have a production capacity of more than two million litres per year and will be powered by green and renewable energy sources. Witchburn Distillery is scheduled to begin production in early 2025.
