Bowmore 19-year-old returns to Amazon
Islay Scotch whisky brand Bowmore has released the second batch of its Amazon-exclusive 19-year-old single malt.
The Beam Suntory-owned distiller released the first batch of its 19-year-old whisky exclusively through online retailer Amazon in 2018. Following its "overwhelming success", Bowmore has released a second batch of the whisky, which has been aged for the full 19 years in first-fill ex-Château Lagrange French oak barrels. The expression offers aromas of candied apple, honey and "Bowmore’s signature light peat smoke". On the palate, the whisky has flavours of "toffee, wild honey and exotic spices", balanced with a finish of summer fruits and warm peat smoke. David Turner, Bowmore distillery manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to bring back a small amount of this unique expression following its initial release last year. We knew we had something special when we bottled it so to have that re-affirmed is great to see. “The whisky has been patiently aged for 19 years in French oak barriques to impart a richness of flavour that perfectly marries with the gentle peat that has made Bowmore so famous.” Bottled at 48.9% ABV, Bowmore 19 Year Old is available from Amazon for £129 (US$160) per 700ml bottle. Last month, the Islay distillery launched the first edition in a new series of single malts inspired by creatures from Chinese mythology.
