Botivo unveils ‘disruptive’ redesign

Apéritif-inspired brand Botivo has unveiled a new bottle design to highlight the craft credentials of the non-alcoholic ‘spirit’.

Co-founded by Sam Paget Steavenson and Imme Ermgassen, Botivo is a small-batch 0.1% ABV botanical drink inspired by apéritifs, made with apple cider vinegar, organic wildflower honey, gentian, wormwood, rosemary, thyme, and orange zest. It is said to offer a herbal flavour profile, with bitter and citrus notes and a long finish. The new label design is said to be based on Steavenson and Ermgassen’s fascination with connections that are deepened through eating, being merry and drinking together. The brand said the new look ‘is all about disrupting the category with something that is both craft and playful’. Botivo commissioned the work of illustrator Rozalina Burkova to ‘bring to life the creativity and joy de vivre of the brand’ while respecting its artisanal roots. Burkova began with ‘a sunny base colour’ of Pantone #122U to capture the essence of conviviality, connection, and the ‘pleasure-seeking traits’ of Botivo. The illustration on the bottle has been drawn to reflect the ‘curious and open-minded nature’ of Botivo, using various characters that are each independent yet connected within the animated scene. Botivo is recommended served topped with soda over ice with a wedge of orange to create a Spritz. In addition, the herbaceous notes of rosemary and thyme lend the drink to savoury dishes of roasted chicken and spring lamb, while the bitterness of the liquid pairs well with spicy foods. Botivo is available to order in various UK restaurants, and can be purchased from retail outlets including Selfridges and Daylesford. Furthermore, it can be purchased directly from Botivo's website for RRP £26.95 (US$34). This month, Tanqueray expanded its alcohol-free range with the addition of Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla 0.0%.
