Beveland creates Cuban rum range
Spanish drinks group Beveland Distillers has created a rum range called Doble 9, designed to bring Cuban culture and experience to consumers.
The new collection of rums comprises five expressions: Añejo Reserva, Blanco Reserva, Añejo Gran Reserva, Elixir, and Añejo 15. The name Doble 9 derives from the traditional Cuban game of Doble 9 Dominoes. The Blanco bottling boasts a warm mouthfeel and sweet aftertaste, while the Gran Reserva presents a dark and syrupy taste akin to flavoured liqueurs. The Añejo Reserva has a floral, sweet taste, said to be ideal for the Cuba Libre cocktail, while the Elixir bottling is described as full of spice and fruit notes, with an ‘easy sipping body’. Clocking in at 34% ABV, the rums within the collection retail between RRP US$29 and US$32. The Doble 9 range launched in Europe at the end of 2022 and became available in Canada in January 2023. In 2021, Beveland Distillers brought its Marama Origins Indonesian rum to the US through Stoller Imports. In more rum-based news, Jack Daniel's owner Brown-Forman recently shared how its purchase of Diplomático Rum provided it with a "market-leading point" to enter the fast-growing super-premium rum category in the UK. Plus, earlier this year, Diageo acquired Don Pap Rum for €260 million (US$274.6m). The deal is expected to be completed during the first half of 2023, with a further potential €177.5m (US$187.4m) investment to be made between the time of purchase and the year 2028, subject to the spirit’s performance.
