Benromach launches second Château Cissac cask whisky

Speyside distillery Benromach has launched a limited edition single malt finished in Château Cissac wine casks under its Wood Finish range.

Benromach Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2010 is said to balance Benromach’s “signature Speyside smokiness with rich red wine undertones”. The expression has been matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks before moving to Château Cissac wine casks, from the French wine region of Haut-Médoc near Bordeaux, for two years. It follows the launch of Benromach Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2009 last year. “I’m confident that Benromach Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2010, with its unique and appealing characteristics, will be appreciated by new and existing Benromach enthusiasts,” said Keith Cruickshank, Benromach Distillery manager. “At our distillery in Forres, we’ve always been unafraid to innovate, and we hope those who enjoy our flagship Benromach 10 Years Old will enjoy exploring our different finishes.” Benromach Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2010 (45% abv) is limited to 7,789 bottles, which carry an RRP of £47.75 (US$62) in the UK. International prices may vary. Earlier this year, Benromach moved into gin with the launch of its Red Door brand.
