Brown-Forman Global Travel Retail (GTR) has released a 50-year-old bottling of Benriach – the brand’s oldest Scotch whisky to date.

The launch of Benriach 50 Years Old took place at the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference in Singapore. Only 37 bottles of the whisky will be available worldwide with an RRP of £25,000 (US$31,329) per bottle, five of which have been allocated for the GTR channel. On 21 September 1966, Bourbon cask 2383 was filled with unpeated Benriach new make spirit, and, after 50 years, was bottled at 44.5% ABV. “We are thrilled to offer five of the just 37 bottles of Benriach 50 Years Old to our valued GTR partners,” said Stéphane Morizet, marketing director GTR Brown-Forman. “It is the finest portrayal of Benriach’s fruit-laden style, with unrivalled complexity and luxurious refinement. “The GTR allocation underscores the importance of this market to Brown-Forman and highlights our commitment to delivering exceptional luxury editions to travellers.” Tasting notes include aromas of oak, chestnut, Maraschino cherry and gentle acacia honey. The palate is said to bring honeyed dates, delicate oak spices and lingering apple, pear and traces of grapefruit. Earlier this year, Benriach also unveiled a 25-year-old expression for GTR. Last week, Benriach owner Brown-Forman revealed Michael Masick would become president of the company's Emerging International division on 1 July.
