Bathtub Gin launches first flavour

by Melita Kiely

Not only has Bathtub Gin revealed its first flavoured expression, but the brand has also unveiled a redesign.

Bathtub Gin Grapefruit and Rosemary is the first flavoured variant since the brand launched in 2011. The gin maker took to Instagram to ask fans what flavours they would like to see from the gin. More than 1,100 suggestions were received during the initial stage of the campaign. The flavour trends were then split into different categories and ranked according to the number of votes they had received. The top trends were: citrus and herb, citrus and spice, and citrus and floral. The four shortlisted flavours were: grapefruit and rosemary, blood orange marmalade, lime and orange blossom, and lemon and pink peppercorn. Consumers were asked to vote on the final four combinations to pick their favourite. More than 1,500 votes sent grapefruit and rosemary to the top of the leaderboard. Hannah Burden-Teh, Bathtub Gin brand manager, said: “Launching our first flavour variant is exciting enough, but this is compounded by it being chosen by our consumers. “We’ve worked hard to create the most delicious interpretation that captures that fragrant hit of grapefruit and rosemary.”
Brand redesign
While the bottle will still be hand-finished, the packaging has been given a revamp to coincide with the launch of the rosemary and grapefruit flavour. The bottle will no longer feature the Ableforth’s brand name, as Bathtub Gin becomes a standalone brand. Burden-Teh added: “To mark such a special moment, the hand-drawn illustrations have been printed in colour for the first time on our iconic bottle and our namesake bathtub foiled. We can’t wait for consumers to drink their creation.” Bathtub Gin Grapefruit and Rosemary will be available to purchase from Master of Malt Trade for £25.16 (US$34), excluding tax. It will retail for RRP £33.95 (US$46).
