Arran Distillers unveils new look and single malts

Isle of Arran Distillers has unveiled a “contemporary” redesign of its core single malt Scotch range and revealed details of further releases.

Created by London design agency Stranger & Stranger, the new-look bottle “keeps simplicity at the core”. It encompasses an updated icon in the shape of the island itself and features a pair of eagles, which nest in the village of Lochranza where the distillery was built in 1995. The embossed glass is said to reflect the ripples of Arran Distillers’ water source. In addition, two new single malts have joined the portfolio: “light and fruity” Barrel Reserve and cask-strength, Sherry cask-matured The Bodega. They join Isle of Arran's 10 Year Old and Quarter Cask in the core range. In October, the distillery will launch 18-year-old and 21-year-old age statements. The news follows the opening of Arran Distillers’ new Lagg Distillery, situated to the south of the Isle of Arran. “As a company, we have grown immensely since I joined the team over 12 years ago,” said James MacTaggart, master blender for Isle of Arran Distillers. “We were one of the first wave of new distillers back in the early 1990s and in June this year, we started a new chapter in our story with the opening of our second distillery at Lagg. It felt like the right time to make the clear distinction between the unique and very different spirits produced at each of our island homes. “We’ve taken inspiration from the elements that make Lochranza so special to produce a unique and beautiful new pack, which does justice to the liquid it contains. We are very excited about the future of our original Arran Single Malt.”
