Rather than staves seasoned for months or roughly a year, this release uses American oak exposed to the elements for five to seven years before barrel construction — prolonged weathering that reduces harsh green tannins and changes how the oak contributes sweetness, spice, and structure during maturation. The bourbon then aged nine years, a stage separate from the wood-seasoning period, before bottling at 50.2% ABV (100.4 proof). The result layers caramel and vanilla sweetness with fruit, bright orange oils, and warming baking spice — a focused study in barrel preparation for followers of Woodford Reserve's experimental Master's Collection.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Caramel and vanilla followed by almond, cherry, and dried red apple, accented with cinnamon.
Palate: Velvety vanilla and caramel lifted by orange oils, cinnamon, and clove.
Finish: Sweet, with warming cinnamon.

Specifications

Producer: Woodford Reserve (Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall), Versailles, Kentucky
Style: Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey (Master's Collection No. 22, Super Seasoned Oak)
Stave Seasoning: American oak weathered outdoors 5–7 years before barrel construction
Age: 9 Years
Proof: 100.4 (50.2% ABV)
Release: 2026, Limited
Size: 700mL

Explore more in our bourbon collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Super Seasoned Oak?
It is Woodford Reserve Master's Collection No. 22, a limited 2026 release that uses American oak staves seasoned outdoors for five to seven years before the barrels are built, exploring how oak preparation shapes the bourbon.

How old is the bourbon?
Nine years — a maturation stage separate from the five-to-seven-year wood-seasoning period.

What proof is it?
100.4 proof (50.2% ABV).
