Each site brings unique characteristics and depth to this bold Pinot Noir.
The list of wineries producing top-scoring wines from Durell reads like a Who's Who of Sonoma: Kistler. Tor. Patz & Hall. Chasseur. Lioco. Saxon Brown. Chateau St. Jean. But taste 20 Durell Vineyard wines from the same vintage and no two will taste alike. The expression of this vineyard seems to have no boundaries. The full estate spans 400 acres, with the Pacific Ocean 30 miles to the west and the northern stretches of the San Francisco Bay 10 miles to the south. To the immediate north, the Mayacamas rise up 2400 feet, sheltering the northern blocks from daily maritime winds. Mountain, bay and ocean influences combine to produce wines of extraordinary depth and complexity. The Price Family purchased Durell in 1997, and Bill Price introduced Three Sticks Wines in 2002. "That's what drove me to make wine in the first place," Bill recalls. "We had all these different wines from our vineyard, and I wanted to make wines that were just as distinctive. I have my pick of the vineyard rows, and love to see what is created from this place."
