Made using heavily peated barley from Port Ellen Maltings at approximately 50 ppm, the whisky matures entirely in ex-bourbon barrels for two decades; extended aging develops honeyed malt, fruit, vanilla, and mature oak around softened coastal smoke, with notes of baked apple, beeswax, citrus, and toasted coconut revealing a distinctive side of mature Kilchoman.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Mature oak and baked apple, with lemon, beeswax, and gentle coastal smoke.
Palate: Honeyed malt, toasted coconut, and citrus, balanced by white pepper and rounded peat smoke.
Finish: Smoke gradually recedes into oak spice, citrus peel, and lingering mineral saltiness.

Specifications

Distillery: Kilchoman, Islay, Scotland
Style: Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Family Collection 1st Edition, heavily peated)
Age: 20 Years (Kilchoman's first global 20-year-old)
Casks: Ex-bourbon barrels (full maturation)
Malt: Port Ellen, ~50 ppm
ABV: 49.9% (99.8 proof), non-chill filtered, natural colour
Size: 700mL

Explore more in our Scotch collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this Kilchoman's oldest release?
At its 2026 launch it was Kilchoman's oldest general release and its first globally available whisky carrying a 20-year age statement.

What casks are used?
Ex-bourbon barrels for the full twenty years, developing vanilla, honeyed sweetness, and oak spice alongside the fruity, smoky spirit.

Is it peated?
Yes — heavily peated Port Ellen malt at approximately 50 ppm, with rounded peat smoke after two decades of maturation.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0276/1621/5176/files/KilchomanFamilyCollection20YearSingleMaltScotchWhisky1stEditionBottleandDisplayBox.webp?v=1793218016
