About Frey Ranch Whiskey

FREY RANCH WHISKEY

When thinking about bourbon whiskey, one doesn’t generally look to a 2,500-acre ranch in the heart of the Lake Tahoe watershed just outside of Fallon, Nevada. The Frey Ranch has been there since 1854. Fifth-generation farmer and CEO Colby Frey decided to expand his farming expertise into distillation and considers himself a “whiskey farmer.”

Frey Ranch Estate Distillery officially opened in 2014. Wine production began in 2001, with distilling hard spirits beginning in 2005. There were no laws in Nevada prior to 2010 regulating small distilleries, so Frey had plenty of time to master his whiskey recipe.

Every part of the whiskey making process is done on the ranch; the crops are sustainably grown, malted, distilled, aged, and bottled. Frey Ranch Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Straight Rye Whiskey are awarding winning results that prove what Colby Frey says: “Be good to the land and the land will be good to you.”
