Diageo-owned Bulleit Distilling Co. has announced the launch of their new 12-year-old rye whiskey.
The brand helped jumpstart the modern rye revival in 2011 with the launch of its Bulleit Rye. The popularity of this product among bartenders across the world helped push rye back into the mainstream consumer conscious.
Bulleit Rye 12-Year-Old Straight American Whiskey will become the fifth addition to the Bulleit Frontier Whiskey family. Using the same mash bill as its predecessor – 95% rye and 5% malted barley – this expression aged in new charred oak barrels for a minimum of 12 years.
Bulleit Rye 12-Year-Old has notes of dried orchard fruits with a hint of baking spice and oak on the nose, the company says. At 92 proof (46% ABV), this whiskey has flavors of dried pear, light toffee and oak, with a hint of graham cracker spice. The finish is light wood and spice notes.
“Rye’s signature spiciness is certainly still prominent, and this extra aging complements that without being overwhelming, as new levels of softness, clove character and vanilla and oak notes are evident,” says Bulleit Frontier Whiskey Blender Andrew Mackay
Bulleit Rye 12-Year-Old is available in CO, IL, NY, OH, OR, CA, KY, TX, GA, NJ, AZ, MA, MD and Washington D.C. It has a suggested retail price of $49.99 for a 750-ml bottle. The post Bulleit Adds 12-Year-Old Rye to Lineup first appeared on Beverage Dynamics.
